Long-term care of heart attack patients in Germany - Initial results from the GULLIVE-R project

April 25th, 2022

Presentation of the first results during the 88th Annual Meeting of the DGK in Mannheim by Prof. Uwe Zeymer, Chairman of the Foundation Institute for Heart Attack Research and principal investigator of GULLIVE-R

The GULLIVE-R study is a typical health services research project and is the first major project of the new DGK Center for Cardiology Health Services Research.

The organization and implementation of the study was jointly entrusted to BNK Service GmbH and the Institut für Herzinfarktforschung Ludwigshafen.

In contrast to previous studies, which only investigated the care situation in the first 12 months after a myocardial infarction, the German Society of Cardiology (DGK) wants to investigate the long-term care of heart attack patients in Germany in the GULLIVE-R project. For the first time, the risk assessment of doctors and patients will be recorded. The GULLIVE-R study includes patients who have had a heart attack in the past in order to collect data over the period from 7 to 21 months after the heart attack. This information should help to ensure that heart attack patients receive better care in the future.

Between July 2019 and June 2021, 2,503 patients from 150 centers were included in the registry. The results of the follow-up of patients six months after inclusion were presented by Professor Zeymer at the press conference of the 88th Annual Meeting of German Cardiology on April 20, 2022.
